Installation Instructions:

Step 1: Install insulation material and ZrO2 gasket on the bottom line of the press.

Step 2: Install WC pads on the insulation material (during the experiment, WC and Anvil must be assembled first).

*The above picture shows the assembled cushion state of the piston and cylinder

Step 3: Place asbestos insulation pads of appropriate thickness on the surface of the cushion block at one end of the piston.

Step 4: Install the heater on the asbestos insulation sheet at one end of the piston (as shown in the diagram, the heating ring has been updated with a new sealing form of zirconia ceramic on the upper and lower sides on the right side of the diagram). Before installation, it is necessary to perform insulation treatment on the upper and lower parts of the heater, which can be padded with asbestos sheets or coated with cement glue. In addition, the heating lead wire should also be insulated with a ceramic tube (this step can be omitted for the new heating ring). Considering the convenience of installing multiple components, commonly used 502 or 402 adhesives can be used to simply stick and fix the insulation sheet or heater to avoid positional deviation caused by subsequent operations.

Step 5: Install temperature measuring thermocouples and asbestos insulation sheets.

The temperature control thermocouple connected to the temperature control device is usually a K-type thermocouple. Before use, strip the temperature probe to a length of about 5mm (or use an armored high-temperature thermocouple), and then insert it into the heating ring near the surface of the heating wire through the side circular hole between the two heating wire leads of the heating ring.

The other thermocouple connected to the monitoring instrument is usually a 24/30 K-type thermocouple or a 0.5mm armored thermocouple, with a small head probe mainly used to simulate the temperature of the sample as close as possible to the side of the anvil (due to the small space of the DAC sample, it is difficult to directly measure the actual temperature at the sample location, while diamond has good thermal conductivity, it can be approximated that the temperature monitored by the thermocouple on the side of the anvil is the temperature at the sample location). The bonding work of this thermocouple requires users to install and fix it according to their operating habits. We suggest that the fine wire of this thermocouple can be introduced into the side of the anvil at one end of the piston through a groove cut in the asbestos insulation sheet at the bottom of the heating ring, and firmly attached to the side of the anvil with alumina based high-temperature cement.

*It should be noted that due to the very small sample space of DAC, it is difficult to directly measure the actual temperature of the sample, and users need to conduct benchmarking tests themselves in the later stage. Our company provides temperature zone usage instructions based on the closed-loop control of the heating ring's own temperature.

Step 6: In the assembled state, it can be used by connecting the ceramic connector to the cable of the temperature control device or directly inserting it into the thermocouple measurement interface of the temperature control device. If the length of the thermocouple cable is insufficient, our company provides thermocouple extension wires.
